Tipped in over the title page is a printed gift slip from the editor (Homes) gifting the book to de Peyster. Two biographical sheets related to Peyster ar mounted to the front pastedown and verso of contents page respectively. Cloth rubbed and lightly frayed at spien ends and corner tips. Expected institutional indications including shadow of a lable to spine and slim painted catalog number, bookplate at front and checkout attachments to rear endpages. A few pages observed with minimal blue wax pencil margin brackets. Mild yawn between signatures mid-book with one signature starting slightly. Could be rebound to the buyer's specifications. Good only thus

8vo 8" - 9" tall; 1910 - 1952 (various) Oxford University Press. HC 11 volumes of the 12 volumes set; lacking Vol VIII [8] only. Many of the first few volumes are 1st editions from 1910-192. Uniformly bound in daek blue cloth with titles brightly in gilt. Text pages are generally clean and neat, though this is an ex-library set with expected institutional indications and attachments, including catalog labels at spines and bookplates & card pockets to endpages. Vol II & X have been repaired with archival mylar tape over the spines, reinforcing tears to the binding cloth over the joints. Vol II has some mending to partial split in the internal binding. Here and there some very minimal annotation/underlining observed. Some shelf rubbing and wear to cloth at board edges. (See photos for reference) 11 of 12 volumes in decent reference and reading condition. Good only thus. ... Oversize book may require additional charges for expedited or international shipping.

8vo 8" - 9" tall; 69 pages; [SIGNED ASSOCIATION COPY] Publisher's original textured red cloth, lettered in gilt to cover and spine. Just mild shelf rub to cloth at spine ends and tips. Inconspicuous evidence of a bookplate removed from rear pastedown, of the same size as that at front. Inscribed by Balch to Samuel Dickson, who assisted in the book's preparation. Dickson's engraved, foxhunting themed bookplate mounted to front pastedown. T. W. Balch (1866-1927) practiced law in Philadelphia, devoting much of his time to writing and research in genealogy ans international arbitration. French Monk Emile Coure suggested in his New Cyneas (1623) that international disputes could be mediated by having representatives of all countries meet in one place. His prescient suggestions were not truly adopted until the 20th century. VG copy. Scarce in the original editions. ; Signed by Author
