3 Library of the Best American Literature [SALESMAN'S DUMMY] The Lives of Our Noted Literary Men and Women in Story Form
Chicago And Philadelphia Monarch Book Company 1897 First Edition Hardcover Good+
Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; Large 8vo in a compound "sample" binding of decorative pictorial cloth front and title lettered leather rear boards, with folding flaps of respective binding types showcasing the prospective spine designs. A salesman's "dummy" or canvassing copy, with which a travelling salesman would visit homes pursuing subscribers to purchase the book when published. Some photographic inmages included. Ruled subscription sheet at rear has no names recorded, and presumably the books did quiote poorly - with no copies found in public collections searched by Worldcat.
