Expected moderate spotting and toning to page stock. Solid and neat. Prior owner's period bookplate mounted to front pastedown. An uncommon imprint of this early collection of the Federal and State consitutions including Amendments to the Federal as well as Acts relating to government of the Northwest Territories and the District of Columbia. Label is missing the front 1/3 with reamining lettering - Ameri / Constitu/ - . Prior owner's mid 19th century (Ohio) bookplate mounted to front pastedown; an adhesion abrasion/chip to the front endpage. Endpages complete. An early leaf has a closed horizontal tear across the page which we have mended with archival japanese tissue paper. Leather is lightly surface rubbed at spine with a few tiny pits to the surface and the spine ends a little thin and rubbed. Just light shelf rubbing to leather at board edges and surfaces. Includes the Declaration, Constitution of the US with amendments and the constitutions of the first 24 states ending with Missouri. Solid clean copy in original binding. VG thus

Staples have pulled loose from the lining sheets, with the whole bound text now laid in and unattached. Dust jacket is lightly toned but complete with a few mild spots of rub and stress including a short closed tear at the crown of the spine. Mild foxing to the first and last pair of pages. Rather attractive despite the almost inevitable separation of the text block from its moorings. G++/VG-
