Lancaster, PA Johann Albrecht 1804 First Edition Thus Leather Bound Good+ 
16mo 6" - 7" tall; 1st edition of this important and enduring Lancaster Mennonite songbook. Bound in full period polished calf which is chipped at spine ends and rubbed at edges; both clasps are lacking. Text block is intact and the paper is supple, though with expected light uniform toning. Rear board is detatched, front board holding. Paged [6], 79, [1], 415, [1], 17, [1]pp ; 18 cm. Some pages with bars of music. Printed in two columns. Bound, as always, with Ein Neues Unpartheyisches Gesangbuch, with separate title page and pagination. Also imprinted Johann Albrecht, 1804 (Shaw and Shoemaker 6863). With 1825 ink ownership at rear of Maria Landis. This was the first of many editions of this popular Mennonite hymnal printed for the Lancaster Mennonite Church in the 1800's. A reasonably well preserved copy suffering from a detached rear board and loss of clasps. G+ Scarce

16mo 6" - 7" tall; Johann Albrecht, Lancaster; 1804. 1st edition of this important and enduring Lancaster Mennonite songbook. Bound in full period calf; both clasps and straps are lacking, but brass bosses and closures are intact. Light shelf rubbing to leather at spine ends and over the raised bands. Text block is intact and the paper is supple, though with expected light uniform toning. Prior owner inscription to 2nd blank endpage appears to be dated 1804 and 1807. Prior owner names appear to be Schenck and Denlingen, but the page is crazed with apparent insect predation or deterioration from the inks used in the inscription. Light general toning throughout to page stock. Paged [6], 79, [1], 415, [1], 17, [1]pp ; 18 cm. Some pages with bars of music. Printed in two columns. Bound, as always, with Ein Neues Unpartheyisches Gesangbuch, with separate title page and pagination. Also imprinted Johann Albrecht, 1804 (Shaw and Shoemaker 6863). This was the first of many editions of this popular Mennonite hymnal printed for the Lancaster Mennonite Church in the 1800's. A generally well preserved copy. VG- thus

Expected moderate spotting and toning to page stock. Solid and neat. Prior owner's period bookplate mounted to front pastedown. An uncommon imprint of this early collection of the Federal and State consitutions including Amendments to the Federal as well as Acts relating to government of the Northwest Territories and the District of Columbia. Front board with these two leaves detached; rear joint remains sound. Leather chipped from spine ends and surfaces rubbed. Contents complete save for above metioned front endpages. Expected light to moderate toning to the page stock. Early American imprints 24578. Wanting some basic restoration. With faults but a solid text block and original binding. Good only

Oblong 8vo 8" to 9" tall; 102 pages; 7th edition. Oblong format. The general title page, the title page of the second part, and the music are engraved. 2nd title page is in letterpress. This example lacking covers. The first extant page is the engraved title page and the last is page 102. The index calls for a hymn on page 103 but with no other pages indicated following 103. Bibliographic information calls for 110 pages. Engraved title page for the 2nd (pp [77-78] part is tipped in on page 79. Text block soundly bound. Engraved fronmt title page a little rubbed and nicked at edges with expected light toning and soiling. Contents generally neat with just light finger soiling and mild toning. A few pages with a short closed tear in the front or bottom margin. Presumably lacking at least one page at rear (and perhaps more - though not called for in the index). Lacking endpages and boards. Modern owner has added the 1801 date in ballpont to a blank area of the engraved front title. Uncommon and important American tune book in a later edition. With faults. Fair only, thus

An early title by the man who went on to become the first president of the American Vegetarian Society. 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Original full calf with red morocco title label to spine. 941, 232 pages with separate title page for Paradiesgartlein. One strap and clasp intact, the second strap lacking. Brass bosses added at all corners and center of boards. Rounded brass bosses pressed into the boards with bumps showing on the pastedowns from the puncture pieces. Tightly bound and very clean with bright clean pages. No toning or foxing, except to the steel engraved plates and facing pages. A good many woodcuts in text and as plates, none discolored or foxed. Light rubbing to leather at extremities, but largely preserved from wear by the period use of the brass bosses. Mid 20 the century Lancaster PA bookseller ink stamp to front endpage. Original straps and clasps are missing; catches still intact on front edge of the upper board. Spine in six raised bands and seven compartments. Shallow chipping to leather at tail of spine. Tea colored, shallow damp stains in the bottom and front margins of the first 85 or so leaves. Usual and expected halo toning around the letter press printed columns of text. The text is quite sound and neat, complete with all endpages. No prior ownership marks. With binding faults as described; see pics. Good thus ... Oversize book will require additional charges for expedited or international shipping.

Good. No dust jacket as issued. ; 95 p. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 95 pages; 1/4 leather and paper covered boards. Slim volume in leather spine and paper over boards. Concordance printed three columns to a page. Leather spine surface rubbed and lightly chipped at ends with a crack starting rear outer hinge from tail of spine. Front board detached. Pencil ownership on front free endpage. Years of birth and death for Brown are penned in the margin on the title page. Presumably a leaf was laid in for pressing on the rear endsheet; the tannins over time have left a scorch mark to the paper stock in the shape of the leaf-darker at rear and lightening toward the front pages. Sound copy. Good, only

Bound in original letterpress printed, paper covered boards. An early 20th century spine rebacking of buff paper with new endsheets laid down. Complete with original half-title. [2], viii, 86, [bl] pp. Publisher's printed paper over boards show some light soiling and toning to upper cover with shallow chipping to paper at front corners and abrasion at edges; lower board comprising a catalog ad for recent titles by E. Morford is missing a swath of paper from the bottom 1/4 of the surface. Paper rebacking is split along the front hinge exposing the crash but with only a tiny spot of loss to the rebacking material. Prior ownership in manuscript to top edge of half-title and a pictorial bookplate tipped onto the pastedown. Trace residue of a paper remnant in the gutter of the half-title. Complete and generally solid in original publisher issued boards. Quite uncommon; the first book appearance of Byron in America. G++
