First and last dew leaves of most have some mild edge tears and light chipping to margins. Some recent archival paper mendidng to front few pages of Vols I, II & IV. Expected light age toning to page stock, a bit heavier in Vol IV with some chipping to last 20 or so leaves of the final vol. Snug with clean contents. Good thus. ... Folio 13" - 23" tall; Folio in full leather over beveled wood boards. 2 volumes in 1; (6) 340 (4) ; (10) 608 (8) pp. Text block is soundly bound but boards are detached at joints. Original straps and clasps are missing; catches still intact on front edge of the upper board. Spine in six raised bands and seven compartments. Shallow chipping to leather at tail of spine. Tea colored, shallow damp stains in the bottom and front margins of the first 85 or so leaves. Usual and expected halo toning around the letter press printed columns of text. The text is quite sound and neat, complete with all endpages. No prior ownership marks. With binding faults as described; see pics. Good thus ...
