Folio 13" - 23" tall; 40 pages; Original, 1st edition. Folio, oversize HC in original pebbled brown cloth boards with titles brightly in gilt to upper board, framed by decorative vignette ruling in blind. Professionally rebacked and cornered with high quality heavy red cloth, presumably done 1950-1960; modern red leather title label to spine. Refreshed endpages. With 17 double-page hand-colored maps, 1 full-page hand-colored map. Contents exceptionally bright and fresh with just a few tiny closed thumbing tears in lower margins of a few map plate pages. Mild sunning to vloth at board edges. With exceptional detail regarding city property owners, types of structures, business names and building dimensions, locations of sewer, water and fire plugs etc. - this Atlas is the sine qua non of references for Lancaster City development and history. Exceptionally scarce; we are only able to reference two physical book form copies help by libraries searched by Worldcat. An exceptionally well preserved copy of this scarce and important reference. Includes a very large fold-out map of the Great Lakes and Upper Mississippi bound in at rear. Map is in immaculate unviewed condition and has not been unflded. Original pebbled brown cloth with blind ruled boarders. Gilt titling at spine faded, as expected with GPO titles of the late 19th C. Very tightly bound and neat. Appears unread. Aside from the usual fading to the titles at spine, the book and map are about as new. Tables throughout. VG++ to NF

Color map plates; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 172 pages; Oversize HC in original heavy green cloth with titles brightly in gilt to cover and spine. Contains 23 double page color maps plates mounted on binding stubs, along with comprehensive directory of Mission Societies, their area of work, thier financials if known, their publication/journal name etc. Complete and clean, but the binding is shaken and several of the map's binding stubs are pulling free of the binding. Last several pages of the index of Societies have an inexplicable vertical score near the binding edge of the pages; we have placed some archival paper mending tape to close the neat linear scores. Maps are in excellent condition and are impressively detailed and printed. An intriquing and comprehensive reference. Complete and clean but graded good only for the shaken binding and light rub to cloth at corners and spine ends. G to G+ ... 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Very large map of dimensions about 5 x 3 feet folded and housed in original red cloth boards with title letters in gilt to cover. Map is bright and sharp with no wear to folds or edges. Color lithograph printing. Cloth board binding rubbed at edges with light fray to corners, fading at spine with some mild damp evidence in offset belled to the lining sheet inside spine edge. Several small predation holes in the cloth to the rear board. Map is VG++ or better in a Good cloth board binding.

Collects 44 days tours as first described and published in the Glasgow Herald 1927, 28 and 29. Illustrated with numerous detail maps and a centerfold country map. Covers soiled from prior use as a motor guide with rubbing to edges and stress rubbing to surfaces. Still soundly bound and complete; here and there a few period motoring/tour annotations in margins. Prior owner name and 1930 purchase date penned to front endpage. Binding stapled have pulled through the front and rear blank endpages. Thougs worn and surface soiled the guide is complete and decent. Uncommon in the 1st "complete" edition. Good only

Decorative bordered titles brightly in gilt to cover board. Profusely illustrated with large single and double sheet maps of the individual and grouped States and territories, all in color. Leather rubbed at edges and corners, a little tired at spine ends. Short open tear to leather at the base of the spine over the front hinge. Prior ownership ornately in calligraphic script to front endpage. All maps in excellent condition, save for the Pennsylvania State map; one of the two sheets has separated from the binding stub. The loose page is laid in at the correct location and could be restored with minimal expense and effort. Cloth at the seams with the leather spine is rubbed and a little stressed. Front endpage with the front half of the leafe excised, probably to remove a gift or personal inscription. The large ornate ownership name is penned to the next free endpage. A solid, complete copy. Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; Volumes I- III (of 6). Vol I: Mathematical Geography, Physical Geography, Political Geography, some countries etc. , with "tables of mathematical geography" at rear along with 4 folding copper plate engravings, the second of which is missing half of the image from the center fold line. Vol II: Continues with countries: Siberia, Asia etc. Vol III: Africa, America, South America. Tipped in at front of Vol III is a printed notice to subscribers, stating that "The present volume .. Falls a few pages short of the number intended in consequence of the want of a further copy from England". Notice is pencil signed by E. C. Humes. The Boston 1824 edition was the first American issue, this Finley published 3 volumes the 2nd American edition. The last three volumes were published 2 years later in 1829 by Laual & Bradford. A separate Atlas was published in 1828 by J. Grigg. Uniformly bound in treed calf with red and black spine labels. Bookplates and ink ownership to ffeps and paper spine labels indications of a literary society liberal arts college ownership. Contents sporadically foxed but snug and generally clean. Leather bindings scuffed and rubbed a bit at edges and surfaces. Vol II more worn with rear board detached and front board tenuously attached by cords. With faults; good only. ...
