16mo 6" - 7" tall; 24 pages; Rochester Optical Co. (5 South Water St. ) Small format paperback in decorative, pictorial wraps; binding is saddle stapled. A very nicely preserved copy of this scarce early ephemeral piece issued by Carlton's Rochester Optical Co. Covers are bright and fresh with crisp edges and very neat contents. A brief history along with practical applications discussed and a sort of dictionary of terms and apparatus definitions. Followed by 5 pages of testimonials, the latest of these dated 1890. Produced as an introduction to the new photographer, possibly distributed with purchases or through agents or dealers. Only threee examples found in institutional holdings searched on Worldcat. A stellar copy. Nearly Fine

It appears the original staples were removed and replaced. Staple points on the spine covered with two small pieces of white tape, again at centerfold. Mild rust offsetting to the staple junctures in the gutters, but current staples are bright. History of the Engle Clock, its creation and inventor, accompanied by several verse pieces. A atatement by the author at rear suggests a 1932 publication date, though it could be a reprduction. Extremely uncommon in any printing. No recorded copies on OCLC. VG

Original small string loop through the top spine corner has pulled through the paper leaving a small closed tear in the upper corner of the pages. Covers bright and quite attractive; contents complete. Young child's small pencil drawing to a few of the blank memo areas of the calendar pages. About VG

Lithograph; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 6 pages; [No date given] Circa 1855. Large format sheet music in original illustrated wraps. A six sheet piece of music by Charles Grobe, "respectfully inscribed to the Young Ladies of Linden Hall (formerly Young Ladies Institute)." The front cover, printed in stone lithography, depicts the "rear view" of the Linden Hall grounds mid 19th entury. Music notation comnprises three sheets with no linguistic content; the rear page is publisher ads. Some light soiling to covers and separation at folds. Trace glue residue at spine edge suggests the piece was at one time bound in a collection. Quite scarce with only two copies recorded on OCLC database records. A nice early ephemeral piece related to the oldest girls boarding/day school in the U.S.. G++

Profusely illustrated with color cutaways of Pullman compartments, lounge, bedroom, and observatory cars, changing and restrooms etc. Original owner had folded the entire booklet in half with a resulting vertical stress crease to the covers and pages; book lays flat and there is only minimal white visible along the crease on the front cover.
