Woodcut figures; tables; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 189 pages; 12th edition, adapted to American Surveyors. [8], (1-9) , 10-189, [53], 7, [1] pp. Contemporary treed calf with red morocco label to spine. Soundly bound and generally clean with prior ownership of James Jerry in manuscript to endpages. Some small areas of mild skinning to leather along the bottom edge of the upper board and superficial surface scarring to leather boards. Gilt lettering to label fading. Tea colored, v-shaped dampstain in the top 1/4 of the last several leaves. Hinges a little tender but sound. Illustrated throughout with woodcut figures, diagrams and pictorial diagrams. 53 unnumbered page section of tables at rear with an 8 page appendix following. Sound and quite decent. Uncommon in American editions. VG-

Publisher's trade binding of thatched red cloth is brightly title- lettered in gilt to cover and spine. Light shelf rub to jacket edges with nicks and small chips missing from spine ends and corners. A small open snag to the front jacket panel just below the top edge. Inscribed snd signed by the author on the title page. A handwritten note regarding the different pens used in the inscription is mounted to the facing page. VG++/VG; Signed by Author
