Folding black cloth covered portfolio encloses the 25 loose facsimile plates interleaved with guard sheets as well as the 20 page introductory book - sized in the same dimensions as the prints. The portfolio remains in the original heavy cardboard mailing box. Prints and book are immaculate and as new. Cloth portfolio protected since date of issue by the mailing box is also about Fine. Photographs and color lithographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 261 pages; In original title lettered wraps. Profusely illustrated monograph. Title lettered paper covers are toned and brittle with small chips missing from spine corners and lower edge, rear - with a vertical separation the lenth of the spine panel exposing the heavy thread sewn binding. Contents are very neat with no significant evidence of prior reading or use. 147 plates, some with double photographs and each with a caption lettered tisue guard. Most are photographs from the field expedition but also included are a good number of colored lithographs showing dress and artifacts in colors observed. Deserves to be recased with original wraps preserved. At present the fragile nature of the paper covers leaves the binding cords exposed and will lead to a shaken and solit binding if used for reading or research. Contents VG++ or better but graded overall with the condition of the covers in mind. Scarce. G++
