Squat, stout volume in period patterned paper over boards. Binding sound and snug with boards sound in joints. Paper over boards rubbed over spine edges with flaking and light chipping; boards visible at spine edges but remaining well bound. Scattered toning and foxing to text is generally mild. Spine panel unlettered but a rectangular paper label is mounted near crown with a hand lettered 3 digit numeral. Sound and clean. Uncommon in either of the tw volume and scarcer still in the complete 2 volume form dealing with all 4 Gospels. VG-

In 7 books, each book fronted by a woodcut plate -- EXCEPT Libro Quinto which is lacking the plate at pg 159. Front endage detached from binding, laid in at front, has period ownership in manuscript. Internal binding split at front. Text block soundly sewn save for front endpage; lacking rear endpage. Final printed page is worn with partial tearing along the gutter and some thin areas and several small holes. Silk ribbons sewn into the front edge of the cover but lost from rear. Lacking 1 plate and rear endpage; otherwise complete. G+

Label is missing the front 1/3 with reamining lettering - Ameri / Constitu/ - . Prior owner's mid 19th century (Ohio) bookplate mounted to front pastedown; an adhesion abrasion/chip to the front endpage. Endpages complete. An early leaf has a closed horizontal tear across the page which we have mended with archival japanese tissue paper. Leather is lightly surface rubbed at spine with a few tiny pits to the surface and the spine ends a little thin and rubbed. Just light shelf rubbing to leather at board edges and surfaces. Includes the Declaration, Constitution of the US with amendments and the constitutions of the first 24 states ending with Missouri. Solid clean copy in original binding. VG thus

Period marbled paper boards, with professionally rebacked spine in sheep leather. Seven compartments and six raised bands; morocco title label to spine. [18], 37, [1], 400 pp. , (130 plates). Dedication, Preface, List of Subscribers, Abstaract, Errata, and 37 pp contents at front. Prepared for publishing in two volumes with binder's instructions to place plates adjacent to specified pages. This example bound as one with no 2nd volume title page, intended for placement after pg 208. All plates are bound in at rear. Generally solid and neat with a few scattered light stains. Fully one half of the bulk of the book is taken up by the 130 folded plates at rear. The last 8 or so plates are rough along the front edges, with some accordion folding, toning and brittleness to the front edge and some shallow loss at the terminal edge. Last 30 or so plates with chipping and loss at the lower corner margin. All plates present and with no significant loss to any of the mathematical and diagrammatic images on the plates. Light chipping to paper over boards at edges. Corners lightly bruised. Scarce early 18th century treatise on perspective is in solid and generally attractive condition. Rebacked. VG ...
