Tightly bound and exceptionally neat in crisp edged and uniformly bright pictorial dust jacket. Tightly bound copy feels unread; no marks. Just light shelf evidence to jacket edges with a few tiny nicks and closed micro tears but with a longer 2 inch long closed tear and mild adjacent stress scrunch along the lower edge of the rear panel. Dust jacket lists 33 Swift titles front flap terminating w/ Dirigible. Ads in rear of book list 35 Swift titles ending with Giant magnet. Dust jacket is bright and generally neat save for the original owner's now very aged application of tape reinforcing the joints, edges and falp folds. Tape is not heavily toned but is tiff and lightly toned. Similar application to inside surface of flap folds. Makes the jacket stiff at folds but still showing nicely with only minimal edge rub and tiny chips. Light bump to boards at base of spine. VG/G+

There are several short closed tears at jacket edges, light toning to the whites of the jacket's rear and spine panels and mild surface rub. Binding is square and snug; trace patches of silverfish predation to the cloth along the front spine edge and lower edge of the upper board and front edge of the lower board. Corners lightly tapped. Glossy frontis and illustrated eps; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 217 pages; In original thatched orange cloth with title lettering in black . Only one printing was issued by Grosset in the orange cloth binding; title list at front copyright lists 36 Swift titles ending with Television Detector and list at rear with 35 titles ending at Giant Magnet. Soundly bound copy with cloth at spine lightly sunned and fading, though with titles remaining bold. Orange top stain dulled and lightly dust soiled. A few light spots of soiling to spine. Prior owner name penned to front pictorial endpage; light soiling to front edge of page block and mild foxing to first two or three pages of front matter. Residue and mild abrasion from a small bookstore label in the gutter of the front pictorial endpage. Sound decent 1st edition, relatively uncommon. G++

New York Grosset & Dunlap 1936 early printing Hardcover Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket 
12mo 7" - 7" tall; 244 pages; HC/DJ Early printing. Soundly bound copy in original color pictorial dust jacket. Jacket contains all 15 Sturdy titles on front flap catalog and X Bar X Wild Herd as the last of the X Bar books in the catalog on the rear flap. Gift inscription to front endpage dated 1938. Thatched red cloth with titles blocked in black to cover and spine. Green and white pictorial endsheets have usual mild publisher/binder glue toning in the gutters. Rogers illustrated color dust jacket had been removed from the book, folded and laid in. There is stress creasing across the front and rear panels and the front flap has been reattached from a split along the fold - using minimal application of archival japanese tissue to the rear blank surface of the jacket. Small chips and nicks from jacket at spine ends and edges including a small open sang along the front spine edge. Though the jacket is surface stressed it is 95% or more complete and still very bright. Binding a little shaken. Still a sound and attractive dust jacketed copy. Illustrated with frontispiece on glossy stock. VG/VG- thus

Original thatched red cloth with titles stamped boldly in dark green to cover and spine. At spine a shield outlines "Author of Tom Swift Books." Binding sound and contents clean. Top edge stain is green, slightly faded. Just mild silverfish predation to the sizing of the cloth along the lower and front edge of the cover board. Cloth just a little crimped at spine ends; verysmall pin sized puncture to cloth mid-spine. At rear is a 4 page catalog of Sturdy, Swift, X Bar X and Hardy titles. Sturdy list has only 12 titles. Pictorial endsheets by Falk. Solid clean copy. VG- ... Removable heavy 4 mil mylar cover newly applied.
