Sound and complete. Edges rubbed with color lift along the spine edges. Light to moderate surface wear to the front cover, with a short stress crease top edge. Small areas of color loss from patchy silverfishing to the advertisement on the rear cover. Expected general toning to the page stock. Pages still supple and the book can be handled and read. A notably uncommon Tarzan imprint with only 2 copies held in recorded Library and University collections searched by Worldcat. A decent but Good only copy. Scarce to Rare

Light general shelf soiling to boards. Remains soundly bound with all St. John plates and original endpages; a mild internal split between signatures at mid-book has left a vertical stress crease to the cloth at spine. Prior owner's period bookplate to front pastedown mounted with an acidic glue which has toned through the bookplate with mild offset stain to the facing recto of the front flyleaf. A decent copy with general "overall" wear. G++

Probably the hardest to find in 1st edition of the Mars titles by Burroughs. Cocked in the spine; cloth lightly to moderately sun faded at spine, though title lettering remains bright. Sound but shaken in the spine and with several splits in the page block between signatures. Prior owner bookplate mounted to front pastedown. Heavier foxing and toning to the front matter and page stock that usually seen with Burroughs titles from McClurg. Still, a sound - if tender - and clean 1st edition, and scarce thus. G+

Bound in original letterpress printed, paper covered boards. An early 20th century spine rebacking of buff paper with new endsheets laid down. Complete with original half-title. [2], viii, 86, [bl] pp. Publisher's printed paper over boards show some light soiling and toning to upper cover with shallow chipping to paper at front corners and abrasion at edges; lower board comprising a catalog ad for recent titles by E. Morford is missing a swath of paper from the bottom 1/4 of the surface. Paper rebacking is split along the front hinge exposing the crash but with only a tiny spot of loss to the rebacking material. Prior ownership in manuscript to top edge of half-title and a pictorial bookplate tipped onto the pastedown. Trace residue of a paper remnant in the gutter of the half-title. Complete and generally solid in original publisher issued boards. Quite uncommon; the first book appearance of Byron in America. G++

8vo 8" - 9" tall; 72 pages; 1st edition, 2nd issue - with imprint moved from [70] to verso of p. 71. Retains half-title page. Bound in later cloth backed, paper covered boards with paper title label to the thin spine. Without the original wraps and the 8 page inserted Murray catalog. Small horizontal abrasion to the upper board; presumably a paper title label had been mounted to the center. Board edges lightly rubbed at edges, maroon quarter cloth rubbed and a little thin at spine ends. Small chip missing from the top edge of the half-title. Contents bright and clean; complete save for the sometime seen publisher's catalog. "Fragment" - Byron's early Vampire story included in this volume by Murray without Byron's consent appears in pages 57 to 69. (Randolph p 70-71) VG- thus

Lacking half-title page. Contents clean and generally bright, though with a very mild and faint damp line in the lower spine corner of the title and dedication leaves and with trace rippling to the same portion of the book's pages. A well done rebinding if somewhat utitlitarian. Trace rub to cloth at corner tips. Davison imprint between double rules on the verso of the final printed page. Randolph 25-26. About VG thus
