133 Northrop, N. B. Pioneer History of Medina County

Tables; 12mo 7" - 7" tall; 224 pages; HC 1st edition. Smaller format (12mo) HC in original dark brown cloth; title lettering in gilt to cover with blimd stamped borders and floral outline. Spine cloth missing a one inch chip at the crown and split along the front hinge with a closed horizontal tear to the cloth mid spine. It appears the cloth at spine was not lettered with titles. Spine cloth is 85% complete and could be used in a rebacking restoration. Contents soundly bound and generally clean with expected light toning and only occasional mild foxing and superficial spotting. Cloth rubbed at edges with boards showing at corners and along bottom edge. Historical narratives for townships generally followed with tables indicating property statistics. Prior ownership of "A. B. Root Sharon Center, Ohio Sept 14, 1861" imprinted to the front endpage - perhaps by woodblock - in an exceptionally clean letterpress fashion. Penciled ownership and doodle sketch of another Root family memeber to the rear endpage. With original cloth at spine present needs minor restoration in the form of rebacking. Uncommon early Ohio primary history. Good only thus
