155 Lancaster (Pa. ). Board Of Trade Resources and Industries of the City of Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pa With Some Account of its Historical Importance...
Lancaster PA Intelligencer Printing Establishment 1887 First Edition Wraps Good+
Engraved ads, photographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 173 pages; 1887 Intelligencer printing. An early Lancaster trade directory and business oriented history of the city. Accompanied by a good many historical photographs and profusely illustrated with a 70 page section of commercial and business advertisements. The notoriously fragile, original illustrated wraps are present in this example; in the several other examples we have handled they are generally missing. The covers are heavily repaired; the front cover is laid down on a paper backing, missing a 1/2 inch swath along the front and top edge, with tape repaired tears and reinforced edges. The entire spine has been taped over and the rear cover likewise has tape reinforcement. The front free endpage is soiled but the printed contents are bright and clean; only a few pages at rear with a nick or spot of furring. The fold-out map of the city that was issued with the book is lacking, as usual. A bound in tag at the title page records this example as one of some unknown number of copies purchased or given to Walter Heintish for complimentary distribution his customers. His drug store and apotecary is advertised at rear and was located at 16 E King. Scarce in the original edition; this example is G+ or a little better, at least for the presence of the much repaired covers.
