As attractive and well preserved a copy as we have handled over the years. Soundly bound and clean with original floral endpages complete and intact. Light nicking and superficial rub-through to cloth at tips. Several small spots of color fade to the boards, perhaps the result of a drip spill or very isolated silverfish predation. 149 Reid, Christian [Pseud. ]; Tiernan, Frances Christine The Land Of The Sky; Or, Adventures In Mountain By-ways.
New York D. Appleton & Company 1877 Leather Good
Woodcuts; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 130 pages; Apparent 2nd printing after an 1876 issue. This copy was rebound - presumably from a paper covered original - in full balck calf with the owner's name in gilt to cover board and with chained gilt borders to board edges. Spine perished and missing; boards detached. Text/page block sound and complete. Pages printed double column with numerous woodcut illustrations scattered in text. Scattered toning, spotting and handling soil to pages. Still a solidly bound text block that would be restored without difficulty. Good only at best thus. Scarce in early copies - this Reconstruction era travelogue novel narrative earned considerable praise and interest upon publication.
