Publications of the Surtees Society ; V. XI; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 230 pages; Hardcover in publisher's original pebbled green cloth with titles, ruling and Surtees Society crest stamped in gilt to spine. Though there are some mild library ownership indications, the book is extremely well preserved with a tight binding in original cloth and fresh neat contents. Deckled front edge; top edge generally unopened. An unread copy. Just trivial shelf evidence to cloth at tips. Small, thin painted catalog number at base of spine and an obsolete card pocket at rear. Small circular library ownership ink stamp to front endpage and an inconspicuous blind stamp to a balnk area of the title page. Verse is printed in French and facing page English translation. Includes, at rear, an index to the poem and a 3 page appended errata. Mounted to front pastedown is the engraved armorial bookplate of Frances Mary Richardson Currer, highly regarded 19th century scholar and book collector and inspiration for Charlotte Bronte's adopted pen name of Currer-Bell. Aside from mild library indications a NF copy. Altogether near VG and quite uncommon in the original edition
