Text printed within double filet borders. Light to moderate foxing generally confined to first and last few leaves and plate pages and facing sheets. Leather lightly rubbed at corners and spine ends with some light rub spots over the raised bands. Mild surface scuffing to paper at board edges. Solid copy in a slightly aged 1/2 morocco binding. This copy lacks the initial 8 pages of front matter, A2 - A4,in the first part with B1, B2 placed at rear of Vol 2. Paged thus in Vol 1st: [2]Blank, Engraved title, 1 -151 (plates). Vol 2nd: Blank, Title, [6], 88, [6], bl., half-title, A-Q (plates), [4] pp. Lacking 18 of the 168 plates called for. Present are 135 of 151 numbered plates in the primary album and 15 of 17 of the lettered plates in the Appendix album. Lacking are plates numbered 35, 56, 71, 72, 73, 92, 95, 107, 112, 122, 124, 128, 129, 134, 148, 151 along with J and R of the lettered plates. Bound in heavy calf, presumably an early 18th century rebinding, with a later 18th century backing. Leather from top and bottom most compartments of the spine chipped away and lacking. Leahter boards scuffed and rubbed with some mild worming. One plate loose and laind in and another starting - both a little furred at front edge where protruding. Expected scattered toning, spotting and mild foxing with a few minor paper burn spots. Catalog bookplate of noted bibliophile and collector, James Moores Ball, to front pastedown and an 1827 auction note in manuscript. First blank only tenuously bound in and soiled. Imperfect copy, lacking front matter text to the 1st volume and a number of plates as specified.

Morocco title and volume labels. Vol II missing half the volume label and Vol III missing half the title label. Two volumes have a board detached. Some light rubbing to board edges and light skinning to the leather to a few of the 12 board surfaces. Folding maps at rear of all volumes are crisp and neat. Prior ownership of G W Kilchom (? ) Christ Church 1851 top corner of title page of Vol I only. Contents clean and neat. An attractive set with reasonably simple restoration needs.
