Woodcuts, engravings, maps; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 514 pages; Full polished calf leather binding with morocco leather title label at spine. Contents complete and binding sound. Leather splitting along the front external hings, but with boards still sound. Leather moderately surface and edge rubbed. Damp line along the top edge of the first and last 80 or so pages. Scattered mild foxing and toning to text, but considerably heavier to the engraved plates and adjoining pages. Pages a bit stiff from the effects of the damp/spill to the top edge. One signature starting mid book, but still well bound. Illustrated throughout with woodcut portraits, scenes and maps. In condition ready for reading but would be improved with an eventual rebacking restoration. G+

Text block sond and clean; binding shaken with internal front hinge ruptured in the endpage joint - crash exposed between pastedown and flyleaf. Shallow chip and loss of cloth at crown of the spine; a short inch or so tear in the cloth along the front external hinge. Folding map is crisp and clean and included in the publisher's cloth pocket at rear. A mild damp occurrence top edge of the text block has resulted in a very superficial damp ripple along the top edge of the page block. Prior ownership of Hugh J. Logan JR [Phila] with a gift inscription boldly penned from his father, dated 1907, to the recto of the frontis. Logan's pictorial bookplate to front pastedown and small ink ownership stamp to top corner of title page. Decent copy with expected mild toning to page stock and a somewhat fragile and shaken binding. G+ only thus. ... Oversize book may require additional charges for expedited or international shipping.
