Shallow chipping and superficial fray to cloth at spine ends; light rubbing to corners with boards peeking through. Contents bright and clean with only expected light general toning to page stock. Illustrated with a number of lithograph printed plates of prize winning and stand-out animals, crop pests, dairy barn designs and fruit varieties, including a chromo-lithograph of Christine or Telegraph grapes. Separate 55 page report of the Pennsylvania Fruit Grower's Society appended at rear. Overall about VG

A well preserved example of this very scarce late Victorian children's Nursery Rhyme title. Some illustrations signed with the monogram of Rose C. Petherick; others unsigned or signed with a nonogram/mark which combines the letters T H and C. All illustrations in color and have the appearance of lino cuts. Printed in color lithography. Just mild rub to cloth at corners; red cloth backstrip unlettered, as issued. Prior owner gift note in manuscript to front endpage. About 44 pages. Profusely illustrated in color. Handsome copy; only one other example located [Princeton Univ Library] in a search of world library collections. VG+

Mild soiling and foxing to front and rear endpages; a shallow damp line across the top corner of the frontis and the last several leaves. A very shallow tea toned damp line visible along the very front edge of some pages of the text. Engraved armorial bookplate of Diana Russell mounted to front pastedown; manuscript ownership of Fanny S. Bawdon [? ] to the blank upper corner of the title page. Paper covered boards exhibit some light rubbing and chipping to the paper at edges. Lower edge of boards shelf rubbed and a bit furred. Professionally rebacked and snugly bound. The condition of this disbound monograph is Fine, such as it is. A qualified binder could place the whole in boards for $25-50. Original green cloth spine panel of the larger volume is laid in, as are the front matter pages for the whole of Vol VI.
