Title continues: "With the Author's Life / Adorn'd with sculptures from the designs of the famous Palladio / The fourth edition improv'd, with notes explaining the most difficult places, the ancient and modern geography exactly compar'd and Dionysius Vossius's supplement collected from Plutarch, Appian, Dion, &c which makes a connection between the wars in Gaul and civil war with Pompey." [32], 432, [8] pp. Illustrated with 14 plates; 3 folding maps; 9 folding plans and views, frontis and a single page plate. This copy in a fine recent sprinkled calf with paneling in blind to boards and brown title label, gilt to spine. Refreshed endpages of laid paper sympathetic and tasteful. Prior ownership in manuscript to recto of frontis; a more modern small ink name stamp top edge of page block. One plate has archival mending to folds and another with light chipping and furring at the front edge. Generally very handsome, complete copy handsomely rebound. VG
