8vo 8" - 9" tall; 223 pages; Original blue cloth boards ornately blind decorated both front and rear. Spine blind ruled and gilt stamped. From the collection of Civil War calvalry General, John Weidman, with a fraternal gift inscription to him on the front endpg from William H Adams, dated 1857. An exceptionally neat copy; quite tight and bright. Blemishes limited to these: very slighty stressed cloth at the spine ends; front board fore corners just very lightly rubbed with boards barely peeking through. A binder's flaw on the last few pages of the text, along the lower margins of the last 6-8 pgs there is some loss consistent with what one would expect from rough opening with a dull blade. As the edges are not rough cut but trimmed the flaw would have been from the binders shop. Loss is confined to the lower unprinted margins of these pgs. Otherwise a quite splendid copy. Photos gladly furnished on request. VG+ [5844; notable address by Chandler refutes point by point the then current onjections to the Masonic brotherhood. Chandler himself was imprisoned (for failing to testify) along with other very visible and politically significant Masons in the 1836 Anti-Masonic investigation of Thaddeus Stevens]; Signed by Notable Personage, Unrelated
