8vo 8" - 9" tall; 472 pages; Issues 1 -12; all that were published. Bound together in a mid/late 19th century 1/2 leather over marbled paper. Includes numbers 1 - 12 of this short lived monthly devoted to the concerns of the early American frontiersman. Much on brewing, cider making, horse and mule keeping, clearing and planting etc. Extensive and regular content devoted to education. Leather rubbed lightly over spine edges and at corner tips. Binding snug. Expected general toning to page stock. Damp line visible to front and bottom edges but with only a mild tide line visible among the first few leaves. Scattered light toning and foxing in the text, as expected. One leaf with a short closed tear and a small fingernail sized chip which has removed a few words from a passage. A few illustrations from woodcuts. Spine tooled in gilt "Miscellany Vol III" ; small penciled binder's tag tipped in over main title page. Quite uncommon early American magazine, especially so in its complete short run. Includes early abolitionist content. VG-
